David Wilson (actor)

David Patrick Wilson is an American actor and director, probably best known for playing Superman in the 1975 TV musical special Its a Bird...Its a Plane...Its Superman an adaptation of the 1966 Broadway musical.

David was born and raised in New York City, to ScottishIrish parents. He attended public schools in Northport, New York, on Long Island and graduated from Northport High School there in 1967. A scholar athlete, he forsook sports in his senior year to star in his schools production of South Pacific, opposite future Hollywood actressentertainer Patti Lupone. He then went on to attend Columbia University for two years before dropping out in the spring of 1969 to attend The Neighborhood Playhouse School of Theatre, where he studied with its founder, acting coach Sanford Meisner and his devoted disciple, William Esper at the William Esper Studio.
